Report of FLOOD RELIEF CAMP at Ropar & Jalandhar Districts

With the blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi Punjab rushed to help the people affected by Flood in the region of Ropar and Jalandhar. Punjab saw the worst floods in his history, 300 villages were submersed in 10ft water and thousands of people were affected. Our State President Mr Manindar Singh ji with Ropar DP Kailash Ji and his team did survey of flood-affected area in Ropar and identified a village (Phool Khas) which was in urgent need of help, our Sevadal team from all over Punjab reached to rescue in large numbers (100) on 24 August 2019 and did medical camp, distribution of essential household items and basic raw material for cooking food. (Spices, Wheat, Rice, Juice, Clothes, etc)

After Seva, this village has been adopted and a revisit with requirements of local villagers was done on 8 Sep 2019 in which 50 beds, 100 bedsheet and blankets, 20 quilts, 50 mattresses, 500 ladies and gents clothes were distributed by Ropar district and Balvikas classes have been started in this village.

At the same time with the active participation of Indian Army, State President Mr Manindar Singh ji was called for help and to survey the Lohian Khas Area in Jalandhar District. After regular survey and support from BDO office and DC office, we identified 2 villages and 6 schools and took responsibility to rehabilitate these places and make it possible for people to live here again in a healthy atmosphere.

From 1 September 2019 to 8 September 2019 rehabilitation Seva was done in which we did basic cleaning of village roads, spread bleaching powder, sprayed disinfectant inside and outside each house, distributed phenyl bottles for regular use, distributed chemical for keeping insects and mosquito away from households. 6 schools were cleaned intensely and making it possible for students to attend classes. During this 1 week intensive Seva we were joined by Sevadal team from Himachal (35), Delhi (5), Haryana (15) and Chandigarh (6) on different days to bring life to normalcy. People in these villages were relieved and got a hope of better life after a devastating situation, they even joined us seeing our efforts to make their lives a better and make their homes a better place to live.

Distribution of stationery items, bags and tats will be done in these 6 schools; also these villages will be adopted by Jalandhar district under the VIP program

We are grateful to Bhagawan for giving us such Seva opportunity and we offer this at thy divine lotus feet. We Pray to Bhagawan to bless all the people affected in flood or any other natural calamity in the world and may all live in peace and happiness.
